The perfect service lesson game KS4 Hospitality
I created this to get everyone involved, and at first it was carnage but soon as they realised they were being observed they smashed this and all the curveballs thrown in their direction, some of the boys in my KS4 classes are not as forth coming as the girls so this task allowed them all to shine. Cards are colour coded and named to prevent any confusion. teacher must hold onto the curve ball cards, and use these when students have achieved the first card.
Food poisoning outbreak task for hospitality KS4
"Attention everyone! Last night, 'The Golden Fork Restaurant' served its busiest dinner service of the year. Unfortunately, by this morning, six diners have been hospitalised with food poisoning symptoms! The Health Department has traced the outbreak back to this kitchen. Each of you was on shift, and it’s my job to find out who’s responsible. You’ll work in your teams — Front of House, Cold Prep, Hot Kitchen, and Cleaning. Each of you has a statement of what you did during service. Somewhere among you lies the cause of the outbreak. You may question each other, compare notes, and debate what went wrong. When you think you know who caused the contamination — and how — present your theory. Let’s begin the investigation!” split the class into teams, and use the colour coded cards to give the students an understanding of how its happened and what they need to do, you will observe them throughout and the team that wins can get some praise points.

This is an easy to use assessment booklet for teachers to keep track of skills learned, student/teacher/peer assessment and the all important NEA marking feedback needed to keep on top of work and marking, this has been so helpful for me as allowed me to keep track when having multiple classes, and easier when doing data drops as you have the information in your hands already done.
